Caustic App Reviews

Lightweight too!

I use my iPad primarily as a MIDI module for live use, with Audiobus, you can stack the hell out of things with Caustic. My current favorite is Magellan > DFX > Caustic. Magellan outputs 2 MIDI channels that Caustic sees. I can stack 2 sounds from Magellan, then 2 more in Caustic. Wall of sound!

Almost perfect

With the ability to import sound fonts and instruments, this has become a hugely valuable tool for recording a raw sketch of a track. Two things that would make this even better, 1. MIDI Out. Would create an environment much like a desktop DAW controlling its VSTs via piano roll... Which would be fantastic. 2. I understand that providing more inter-app compatibility is opening Pandoras box sometimes, but there are simply so many powerful effects processors and dynamic EQ modulators that would GREATLY enhance the quality of each track I record. Adding Inter-App effects to the mixer would allow me to mold tracks into much closer to final product than raw material. Thanks!

How can i export my song in to soundcloud

How can i export my music to soundcloud in ios

Love this app

This is a great app and should be used by music producers all over.

Dont pass on it

The font is terrible. Dont sleep on this one though cause thats the worst part of it. Synths are very usable, effects are very usable, and the programming, while tricky at first is not a hindrance after about 5 minutes working your way around. Similar to how Reason is on a computer, this is one cool alternative to all the other daws on the App Store.

It Is The Best

I find this the best iOS all-in-one music app out there. I own many of them including Gadget and NanoStudio. I am more productive and finish more music in Caustic. It needs stereo sampling which will be in version 3.2 which should be out soon along with audio tracks. Some people find the look of the UI off-putting. There is a skin called Darker which is the one I use all the time. There are also custom skins available or you can make your own. The dev is one guy who has created a masterpiece and is active on the singlecellsoftware.com forums. Check out his very thorough tutorials on YouTube. They are very well done and go through every single feature of Caustic. With a large number of synths and effects, if you cant make music with Caustic, you arent trying.

Amazing.

This app is smooth, reliable, and full of stuff. I would like to point out that rej hasnt updated for mor than 7 months (PLZ DO SUM MOR COOL STUFF). The midi editor is my favorite midi editor, and I like how the mixer has reverb and delay in it. 2 fx slots for each track, and the effects you can apply are rly cool. Pcmsynth can do samples, with a really amazing sample editor, but if you want to sing here, you might want audiobus. Gr8 i r8 8/8 m8

Amazing sound, features and value

Must buy for any iOS musician. Great synth modules, drum machine and sequencer. Very useful FX as well. Also great that it supports different skins. Cross buy so im enjoying it on both my iPad and iPhone6+. Highly recommended!

Needs better file manager

Near-perfect synth sequencing app that just needs to incorporate a built in tool to add your export tracks to your iOS library.

Hideously Beautiful

This guy is ugly. Maybe even fugly. Its got a pretty terrible feel to it in terms of looks and UI, but it sounds flippin great!! Im fairly new to synthesizers, but I have had a career as a professional recording, performing musician here in Seattle so I am not new to music production. However, I have always been produced rather than self producing (couldnt juggle both, and having a producer always improved my output) but Ive gigged and had studio time with many synth players so Im very familiar with synthesized sounds. Over the last five years I have learned synthesizing with a full set of Moogerfoogers, two outboard hardware Moog synths, two Moog theremins, a Streichhfett string/pad synth modules, a Kaossilator Pro, a Voicelive Pro 2, a Beatstep Pro, a U87, SM7B, 12 outboard signal chain modules in two separate API 500 series lunchboxes filled with Neve, SSL, HA, Moog, preamps, compressors, EQ, filters, bass/subsonic synth resonance modules, a delay, a tape emulation, and a control voltage mixer patchbay. Now that I have familiarized myself with the fundamental usages of hardware synths, I have fallen in love with iOS music production. The sound quality of many of the current top apps are definitely good enough for professional use. I own as use a just about every iOS music/sound production app, and this one sounds really impressive. Most of the presets are pretty stylized towards electronic music, which works great for my own music. It really stimulates my creativity with just the presets alone so Ive yet to dig into its guts and tweak since Ive only had it for two days now. I agree with another review that criticized the file management system. So far Ive been having trouble even finding pretty basic features. An app like this ends up in my queue because I know that I am going to have to spend some time watching videos and reading manuals. I dont mind doing it, but its so time-consuming and it takes me away from my workflow. So many other sound and music production apps have terrific user interfacing designs, so it obviously can be done. I wish it wasnt so hard on the eyes, and its somewhat frustrating to have such a beautiful piece of hardware like the iPad Air 2 only to have your screen filled with a low resolution looking design. If they are able to spruce things up a bit and implement a more intuitive file management system and general user interface that would make this app but total sleeper.

Lot like Reason

Yeah and I love Reason. This is very much like P-Heads Reason for iPad that I had to say it. (though others are too I imagine). Its a great all in one composing program with a cool rack-like style that allows for the various synths, sampler, drum machine, other keyboards to be set up then routed through effects then ultimately sequenced and mixed. Its sweet and although it doesnt LOOK as smooth as Korgs Gadget but smoother than Pixitracker it works great! The modular synth (included) allows for some really complex patches. Works great with a controller so I actually just set up a bunch of keyboards and use it live with great ease. Very lightweight setup that sounds nice and fat. Buy it.

All the right things

Best sequencer and automation Ive come across .would be nice to have tempo automation also .you can load tons of samples in the drum machines

DJ xray review!

Simply brilliant and worth every penny... It does what it says and more. highly recommend and you cannot go wrong with this app.

Awesome App In Need of Update

On iOS 9.2 and iPhone six plus and suddenly this isnt working right. Hoping for a fix...its been a long time since an update.

Perfect

The best out there in the App Store!

Almost a great app

Handy app for mobile use, however... Export to Audioshare has been broken for months, with no indication of when it will be fixed. This means that exporting midi is impossible until the problem is corrected. So yeah - its fun for iPad use, but dont plan on moving your ideas to Ableton as midi until the next update.

Amazing!

I have been getting lost for hours with this music app making great sounding tunes! Good workflow and layout.

One of the best music apps!

Great sequencer and piano roll makes it easy to write a song. Many synths, a vocoder, a solid drum machine, lots of effects. Sample editing and chopping that you can assign to drums or a few of the synths. You can record moving knobs and faders. Nice big buttons and easy to get around makes it seam like a beginners app, but it is really a powerful music app.
